Our summer is getting over, but my garden is still active. I got some kales and lettuces today:)
The weather in Berkeley is different from Japanese weather. Therefore, we have other seasonal vegetables here. But I feel grateful that I still can enjoy eating summer vegetables from my garden.
According to ''The One-Straw Revolution'' by Fukuoka Masanobu,He said that locel foods is the best and the foods which people works very hard to gain such as importation is not a real feast. In fact, Japanese character of a feast ''御馳走'' means people are runnning around. That's very ironic because the characters already show us that we have to run to gain our feast!! I honestly believed my feast was the foods I worked very hard to get because I really missed Japanese foods when I moved here. I always bought imported Japanese foods. But those imported foods were not fresh and it took lots of energy by using airplanes, and ships. Now I realized they were not a real feast!! Recently, we can buy anything anytime in stores such as unseasonable foods and it makes us confused what real seasonal foods are. Especially, I think this effect often occurs in Japan now. I'd like to make many people know what a real feast is. Here is the local foods wheel in bay area I really love! It's very useful!!
